While there could be some substance behind the idea of an off-road-ready Mazda MX-5, I picture that as more of an old Group B rally car conversion than anything else.
It certainly doesn’t conjure up images of a crossover-ized MX-5 with plastic cladding and no roll cage, although the former can stay as long as it accommodates ridiculously wide wheels…
Even so, we there’s no harm in taking a good long look at the rendered MX-5 crossover made by Theophilus Chin. It will never, ever get made, and up until now, it had not even crossed our minds that such a thing could even be considered.
We can all laugh at its pointlessness as production model (although it could be seen as a spiritual successor to the mid-nineties Suzuki X-90), then you can use the comments box below to bash the renderer for wasting his time doing such a project and us for posting it. Before you do, think about how cool a rally version of this would be (check the web for rally-modified older generations of the car – they all look very purposeful).
