Audi’s Prologue Concept continues its U.S. tour with an appearance at Design Miami, one of the world’s leading forums for contemporary and modern design.
To mark the tenth anniversary of the show, which takes place from December 3 through 7, Audi is presenting the Prologue concept car, the first vehicle created by the Audi design team under the leadership of new design chief Marc Lichte. The study is also a preview of things to come at Audi from a design point of view.
“To mark the tenth anniversary of Design Miami, we are providing an insight into Audi’s new design language. In a change from recent years, our presence under the title of ‘The force within’ is this time illustrated with a design exhibit of our own,” said Andreas Mindt, Head of Exterior Design at Audi AG. Based on the fundamental principle of the classic Audi with Quattro drive, the concept car “points resolutely to the future, without throwing the past into question,” according to Audi.
That’s because it features references to previous models. For example, the show car’s tail lights are connected by a light strip, a reference to the 1980s recalling the origins of the brand. “Audi epitomizes the consistent, ongoing evolution of design. Our design language is modern and contemporary, but never modish,” Mindt added.
The appearance at Design Miami puts the Audi Prologue Concept alongside the work of top designers and architects. In recent years Moritz Waldemeyer, Mirko Borsche, Bjarke Ingels, Clemens Weisshaar, Reed Kram, Tim John and Konstantin Grcic created the brand’s exhibits for the design show.
