After the video of the BMW X3 driver who needed more than four minutes to back out of a parking spot went viral, Calgary police was able to identify the person and issued her a traffic ticket.
The woman was fined 115 Canadian dollars ($100) for “unsafe backing,” as she hit a car that was parked behind her BMW while trying to back out of the parking spot. Calgary police digital communications officer Const. Jeremy Shaw tweeted about the incident on Friday after seeing the video.
Later on, he confirmed that the driver was tracked down by an officer a few blocks away from the parking lot and issued a $115 ticket. Unsurprisingly, someone who spoke with her said she claimed she didn’t know she had hit the vehicle. Investigators didn’t mention the video to her and she may not be aware of the footage.
But we are, and we can take one more look at this “work of art.” The video garnered more than 7.2 million views on YouTube since it was posted on December 4.
