Only a few weeks prior to the 2016 Volt’s world premiere in Detroit, Chevy has shared a video teasing the car’s interior and new on-demand regenerative braking system.
The dashboard is draped in cloth, but we still see some bits and pieces from the digital instrument panel and the enlarged center console housing the next Volt’s infotainment system screen.
The purpose of this clip, however, is to demonstrate the second-generation Volt’s Regen On Demand system, which was originally introduced on the Cadillac ELR.
GM product boss Mark Reuss said that the updated system, which is now controlled via one instead of two paddles, is “more refined” than on the ELR.
Previously, GM revealed that the new Volt will feature a larger displacement, but more frugal, 1.5-liter four-cylinder range-extender engine and a new and lighter lithium ion battery pack.
