Only 75 examples of Audi’s new RS5 Coupe Sport Edition will be produced for the US market as part of the brand’s exclusive customization program.
Announced on Friday, the new special edition version of the high-performance coupe model will have a starting MSRP of $87,575, not including destination and handling, a premium of $16,675 over the regular RS5 Coupe.
You will be wondering, of course, what nearly $17k gets you, and the answer to that, is not much really, which shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to anyone familiar with German luxury cars and their so-called “exclusive” individualization options.
According to Audi’s release, the Sport Edition adds the following items: 20-inch 5-V-spoke design wheels, red brake calipers, a Black and Crimson Red Fine Nappa leather interior with contrast stitching, including seats, door panels, steering wheel and boot shifter, and the choice of Daytona Gray or Nardo Gray exterior paint. If you want a different exclusive exterior color, you’ll have to pay extra for it…
There are no changes to the chassis or the 450hp 4.2 liter, naturally aspirated V8 FSI engine that is paired to a 7-speed S tronic transmission shooting the RS5 to 60mph (96km/h) in 4.5 seconds and on to an electronically-governed top speed of 174 mph (280km/h).
