Tesla CEO Elon Musk is a man of his word. A few days ago he tweeted about update details concerning the company’s Roadster, which he will be announcing this week.
On Christmas Day, he revealed that the Roadster will receive an update which will enable Tesla’s Elise-based two-seat convertible “travel non-stop from LA to San Francisco – almost a 400 mile range”.
According to the company, until now the maximum range of the Roadster on a single charge was 244 miles (390 km). So the “Roadster 3.0” upgrade, as Musk refers to it, to 400 miles (640) effectively doubles it.
Musk also tweeted that the battery pack upgrade, which increases the Roadster’s range, is not coming soon on the Model S luxury saloon, but “obviously will happen” in the long –term.
