The EVO staff of editors unanimously chose their car of the year for 2014. This is an odd occurrence (the unanimity of opinions), but it stands testament to how good their top choice was, the new Ferrari 458 Speciale, despite facing some stiff competition this year.
It squared up against the likes of the impressive BMW i8, the mad Renault Megane RS 275 Trophy R, the familiar Aston Martin Vanquish or the drift-prone Jaguar F-Type R Coupe. These and the VW Golf R were the highlights, although not all cars fared so well.
The McLaren 650S was criticized for its odd driving position, while the Audi S1 just missed that final fine handling edge.
When it came to rating the BMW M3, the editors seemed to not love it at all, criticizing it for a heavy-feeling front end or the lack of ability to put all of its power down in the wet.
