Newly discovered evidence of a Mazda LM55 Vision GT Concept car surfaced on Wednesday. Is Gran Turismo 6 preparing for a big surprise on Christmas morning for its racing fans?
Game developer Polyphony Digital only released a new GT6 1.15 update last week that featured the brand new Chaparral 2X and Infiniti Vision Gran Turismo concepts. It’s highly unusual for Gran Turismo 6 to schedule two updates so closely together but Polyphony Digital announced there will be a maintenance period for GT6 Online starting from Dec. 25, 02:30 GMT. That said, we will gladly accept the extra Christmas presents that GT6 has to offer.
So what exactly is Polyphony Digital up to? According to a post from GT6 gamer @smasherguy1020, Christmas may take the form of the mysterious “Mazda LM55 Vision Gran Turismo.” The new Mazda easter egg was found in the list of eligible LMP-class cars in an online racing lobby. There are no leaked sketches or renderings of the new Mazda so far, but we expect the new LM55 Vision GT concept’s design and influences to recall the iconic Mazda 787B that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1991.
For those who are unfamiliar with the Mazda 787B, Mazda is the only Japanese automaker and the 787B is the only rotary-powered racing car to ever win the prestigious endurance race outright. Unfortunately, there are no leaked technical specs of the Mazda LM55 Vision Gran Turismo at this time.
Stay tuned as we will try to deliver more information in the days ahead.
