I don’t know about you, but I think the actor/stunt playing the villain in the next James Bond movie is going to have more fun than 007 himself, at least during car chasing scenes.
That’s because the bad guy will reportedly get to drive the Jaguar C-X75 hypercar, a sophisticated hybrid project that sadly failed to make it to production. At the moment, sources involved with the project told Autocar that engineers are working on the car to make it suitable for filming use.
That means the villain’s C-X75 will not keep its 850hp hybrid powertrain, which will be replaced by a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 petrol engine found in several Jaguar and Land Rover models. Still, it would make an interesting car for a villain, in my opinion even more spectacular than the Aston Martin DB10 Bond will drive.
Giving the C-X75 to the Bond villain makes sense from Jaguar’s point of view, given the company’s “Good to Be Bad” advertising campaign which showcased British actors playing villains for the launch of the F-Type Coupe. However, Jaguar officials didn’t confirm which cars are involved in the film at this stage, indicating that official announcements will be made in 2015.
Bond’s foes have been driving Jaguars for quite a while now. In 2006, both the Jaguar XJ8 and XJR made appearances in Casino Royale, while an XKR starred in Die Another Day in 2002.
