James Glickenhaus shared a new video of the SCG 003 LMP prototype racing car being put through its paces at the Variano Proving Ground with Nicola Larini behind the wheel.
While a video of the first SCG 003 cold start was shared earlier this week, the latest video reaffirms that Glickenhaus’ dream to build a race car to compete at the 24 Hours of Le Mans is one step closer to reality.
“We told Nicola to do two laps,” Glickenhaus said about the first shake down test conducted by test driver Nicola Larini. “After five we had to stand in the center of the track to bring him in. He was very emotional. It’s like driving an F1 car, and unlike others, he would know.”
In some respects, the SCG 003 sounds like somewhat similar modern F1 car too, given its current twin-turbocharged V6 racing engine that is built by Honda. The SCG 003 is a fully modular racing car that is designed to be capable to drive on public roads before easily swapped with race-spec components to compete in an FIA-regulated competition. In street trim, the SCG 003 will accomodate a turbocharged V12 power unit.
The SCG 003 we see here is chassis number one. This example will also be making its official public debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March next year before it will enter its first Nurburgring 24 in May. Eventually, James Glickenhaus hopes the SCG 003 can become available to customers and private racing teams.
In the meantime, be sure to watch the SCG 003 race car negotiate the Variano Proving Ground under the talent of test driver Nicola Larini.
