Less than a month before the start of the 2015 Dakar Rally, which will take place from 4-17 January, Mini announced that it has decided to extend its commitment to the event for two more years, that is until 2017.

The 37th Dakar Rally will be held in Argentina, Chile and Bolivia and the BMW-owned brand hopes that its Mini ALL4 Racing will continue its winning streak that started in 2012.

“With its three consecutive victories, Mini has played a major role in the history of this iconic rally”, said Mini’s senior Vice President Jochen Goller. Last year’s winner, Joan “Nani” Roma, commented: “The Dakar Rally is a tough challenge and there are many new, strong competitors on the entry list. But Mini and X-Raid are very experienced. There’s no doubt that we are capable of winning, no matter who our opponents are.”

Mini and Germany-based X-Raid began the joint development of the ALL4 Racing, which is (loosely) based on the John Cooper Works Countryman, in 2010. In 2015, no less than 10 cars from three teams will enter the world’s most famous, and demanding, off-road endurance race.
