A couple of weeks ago, we heard that Ford is allegedly working on a new GT sports car for the Detroit auto show in January.
While we have yet to validate this piece of information through a reliable source, it seems that we’re not the only ones who have come across this story, as our friends over at Jalopnik reported today that there are “rumors bubbling up through the automotive underground that Ford could present a GT Concept at the Detroit Motor Show”.
That’s all we know for now, but again, we’re still looking into to it.
The previous GT was a mid-engine supercar inspired by Ford’s GT40 racing models from the 1960s, featuring a 5.4-liter supercharged V8, with just over 4,000 models built between 2004 and 2006.
With GM grabbing headlines with the Corvette and Chrysler having the Viper in its arsenal, it’s not far-fetched to say that Ford could be feeling a need to add a halo car to its range.
