The Mazda2 sedan looks somewhat strange with that specific body style, and this comes from somebody who’s seen small sedans all their life and is very used to seeing them. It’s still not as awkward as the Peugeot 206 sedan was, though. Yet if you make the Mazda2 lose its two rear doors and adjust its shape slightly, well then it turns into something very attractive.
It’s from the side that this rendering by Theophilus Chin looks best. The stance is excellent and so are the proportions, though all it does is make us sad that Mazda will never make something like this – heck, it’s still pondering whether or not to make a Mazda6 coupe…
This in spite of the fact that Mazda did make something very similar to this in the 1990s, the MX3, which came with a small capacity V6 that displaced just 1.8-liters.
