Even though the sixth generation of the Mustang is now in production, including a GT350 hot version, Shelby American has decided to send off the fifth-gen Ford pony car with a special edition.
Based on the Ford Shelby GT500, which was offered with up to 850hp, the package is available on 2007-2014 coupe or convertibles. Only 50 will be made, and orders will be accepted until January 31.
“The Ford Shelby GT500 Super Snake has become one of the most exciting and desired cars in the world since we introduced it in 2007”, said CEO of Shelby American Joe Conway. “With production of the current generation GT500 ending, we wanted to commemorate the sunset of an important era. It’s a car worthy of being honored with a very special edition Shelby. The package can only be ordered for a limited time, so ownership puts a person in a very elite club.”
To build a Signature Edition you need two things: a. the base car and b. a US$44,995 cheque. For that, you get features like forged Weld wheels, a 3.6 Kenne Bell Supercharger, a Shelby Performance cooling package comprising a new radiator, heat exchanger and aluminum cooling tanks and upgraded rear brakes. There’s also a passenger air bag cover with a commemorative Carroll Shelby decal, stripes in any color offered by Shelby American, a choice of any color offered by Ford on the GT500 and “Super Snake” Signature Edition badges.
You also get a one-day track experience, which is nice, but if you want a wide-body package you’ll have to dig deeper into your pockets as it’s an option…
