Only two days after we presented scoop photos of a Skoda Superb prototype, the Czech automaker released images of the exact same car fitted with identical registration plates.
Skoda says the new Superb has completed the final test series in Southern Europe and is ready for production.
Unfortunately, the car shown in the photos still wears camouflage, but one of the images allows us to take a look at the new Superb’s rear end which appears to be more similar to the current Octavia liftback than the VisionC Concept. However, the camouflage may distort the viewer’s perspective so that is just an assumption.
Along with the photos, Skoda has released new details about the Superb, which will have its world premiere in mid-February in Prague, ahead of its introduction at the Geneva Auto Show in early March. Going on sale in Europe from mid-2015, the third-generation Skoda Superb shifts “to the upper end of the automotive mid-class,” with the carmaker adding that it will have a new design language with new proportions, and will feature more space, innovative technology, driving dynamics and build quality than before.
Skoda says the size of the cabin and the boot have increased and will set a new benchmark in the segment. Based on VW Group’s MQB architecture, the new Superb is said to offer “the best values in terms of comfort, infotainment and connectivity, safety, eco-friendliness, consumption and performance,” according to the press release.
“The new Skoda Superb is the best Skoda ever. This latest generation of our flagship will appeal to new groups of customers in the business and private sector. The qualities of the Superb emphasize the brand’s values and point to the future of Skoda,” said Skoda CEO Prof. Dr. h.c. Winfried Vahland.
Since the nameplate’s launch in 2001, Skoda sold more than 700,000 Superb vehicles to customers all over the world.
