There have been versions of past Smart ForTwos which have had no doors and minimal bodywork, but none have also blended this approach with an emphasis on sporty handling and more performance too.
Well, this rendering by X-Tomi attempts to do just that and the result is not bad at all.
Yes, it rides a bit too low to be realistic, but there would be nothing wrong with one of these being as light as possible, with big brakes and firm suspension being honed around a track. The fact that it’s rear wheel drive and has a wheelbase as short as it does should make it fun (scary?).
Imagine driving this with no electronic traction and stability aids to get in the way. You’d most likely just be correcting snap oversteer all the time, but at least it would be engaging, something Smarts (even sportier ones) have never been…
