Albert Obrist is one of the 499 clients whom Ferrari invited to buy one of its LaFerrari hypercar that combines a naturally aspirated V12 and the HY-KERS electric propulsion system for a total of 950hp (963PS).
You see, Obrist is one of the few that the Prancing Horse deemed fit to ask if he would like to spend €1 million for the privilege to acquire the company’s most advanced road-going car ever.
That’s because the Swiss millionaire is a Ferrari collector for the past 51 years, with quite a few classics in his stable (pun intended). He bought his first one, a 250 GT 2+2 in 1962 and then went on to build a sizeable collection, which includes a 250 TR that won the 1959 12 hours of Sebring, a 375 MM, which won the 24 Hours of Spa in 1953 and the 315 S that won the 1957 Mille Miglia, the last time the event was hosted.
“I think it’s important to keep the tradition. My collection is a very important piece of Italian culture”, he said. What about his latest acquisition? “I don’t think this is a car; this is something else”, he commented after taking his LaFerrari for a spin. “It is not real, this is absolutely fantastic”, he added.
Obrist bucked the trend for red Ferraris, choosing instead a Grigio Ferro (think light grey) paint that, in our opinion, looks absolutely gorgeous. Anyhow, you can watch the car, and what its new owner has to say, in the video after the break.
