Coincidentally, Tesla’s Model S P85D is equally powerful as the Lamborghini Aventador, with both cars producing 691hp (700PS). Taking that into account, it was only a matter of time before someone staged a drag race between the two vehicles.
Besides maximum power and the four-wheel drive setup, the two cars couldn’t be more different: one is a family car powered by electric motors, the other is a mid-engined supercar powered by a naturally-aspirated V12 gasoline unit.
The Lamborghini’s official 0-60 mph (96 km/h) time is 2.9 seconds, while the Model S P85D’s is 3.2 seconds, so a drag race between the two cars should be pretty close. The Tesla is penalized by its curb weight, which is 851 lbs (386 kg) bigger than the Aventador’s. However, an optimist would say its instant maximum torque should help it offset that.
