This weekend, December 21 and 22, a collection of three Italian supercars from the ‘90s, that is two Ferraris and one Alfa Romeo, go under the hammer at Silverstone Auctions.
What all three cars have in common is that they are very low mileage, as they’ve been tucked away, and barely driven, in a large private collection. Oh, and they’re all red, too.
The first is a 1991 Testarossa with just 955 miles that is in mint condition and comes with the original luggage set and the Cartier watch that Ferrari gave to the car’s customers at the time. Its estimated price is between £130,000 and £150,000.
The next is what we would call a “sleeper”. The Mondial T doesn’t rank very highly among Ferrari aficionados but, still, this one-owner example has covered only 1,180 miles from new so it’s barely run-in. It’s expected to fetch between £50,000 and £70,000, which could make it a bargain if, as expected, the price rises in the next few years as the Mondial T gets appreciated by collectors.
Last, but certainly not least, is a 1991 Alfa Romeo SZ, one of only 998 manufactured and only a 100 officially imported in the UK. It has an incredibly low 502 miles showing in the odo and will likely fetch between £50,000 and £70,000. It does make for a nice alternative to the Mondial, wouldn’t you agree?
Commenting on the collection, General Manager and classic car specialist at Silverstone Auctions, Guy Lees-Milne, said: “This is a very special collection of Italian exotica and each of the cars is in almost brand new condition. It’s rare to find one or even two of these cars with such low mileage but to find three is something special indeed.”
