A report published by Telegraaf says the upcoming Bentley SUV will bear the name “Bentayga”. However, it’s not named after a nomadic people or a type of pepper, but rather a small mountain range from the Canary Islands.
The name was not officially linked to the SUV, though, with the Dutch newspaper stating that Bentley had merely registered the name, and not automatically attributed it to the high-riding model.
It does make sense, though, to name it after something rugged and adventure-inspiring like a rock formation. It doesn’t even sound that bad, though that’s probably no accident, probably being chosen out of a pool of possible denominations.
The Bentley SUV hits showrooms across the world in 2016.
