The Prestige variant of the 1970s and ‘80s Citroen CX was built on the extended platform of the break or estate (wagon). It retains the fastback design but features a notably longer rear door and more legroom in the back than you could shake a stick at… a really long stick that is.
This one, a 1986 CX25 model, is up for grabs in Barrington, Illinois for a yet-unknown amount – the current eBay bid for it is $10,000.
The car is said to be in good conditions, with some exterior imperfections visible. It is in good mechanical order, with overhauled suspension bits and a clean overall look.
While the exterior is stunning if you see it for the first time (that low-slung stance is unique in the industry and period), it’s really the interior that’s the best part about it. Firstly, the Prestige model, with its extra 25 cm / 10 inches of extra rear space, is cavernous.
It’s also a very inviting interior with a cozy ambiance that you just don’t get in cold modern cars – you won’t find more cosseting seats in any car at any price, really.
