The all-wheel drive Golf R, Volkswagen’s highest performance model, will be available for pre-order on January 8, 2015.
The announcement was made by Volkswagen of America, and it marks the opportunity for customers to pre-order one of the first 500 available 2015 Golf R models with only a $500 reservation fee.
All of the first 500 models will be identical (Lapiz Blue Metallic) and will host a bag of features such as DCC & Nav and the six-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission. Under the hood, a 300 PS 2.0 liter TSI engine, driving the 19″ “Cadiz” aluminum-alloy wheels with summer performance tires, with the help of the 4Motion all-wheel drive system.
Other features include Bi-Xenon headlights with LED Daytime Running Lights; DCC (Adaptive damping system), Park Distance Control, SatNav and the Fender Premium Audio System.
The first 500 owners will also receive an exclusive VW Driver Gear R accessory kit (VW R watch, carbon fiber keychain, serialized and VIN-specific certificate).
All this sounds like a great deal, especially if you consider the fact that you’re getting a very, very quick car. The Golf R is capable of hitting 62 mph in just 5.1 seconds, while being electronically limited to 155 mph (250 kmh).
