VW has announced the availability of a RaceApp with associated LogBox which work together to provide the driver with performance stats for circuit outings.

Combined with the LogBox, the RaceApp provides a series of performance data in real time including acceleration, lap times, boost pressure, g-forces, and more. The data is sent from the LogBox to the driver’s smartphone via Bluetooth.

The home screen of the RaceApp is the control center from which access to all app functions is enabled. The “Driver Screen” shows the current driving values, including boost pressure, speed and g-force. In “Record” mode, the program automatically detects circular routes and records lap times. It can also record performance parameters on predefined routes. Data is stored and can be reviewed by the driver later on.

The LogBox costs €299 ($367) in Germany, including VAT but excluding installation. The Volkswagen Race App is free to download from the Apple Store and Google Play Store. You can see how the app works in the video posted below.
