It seems like we can’t go a day without somebody racing their C7 Corvette Z06 on the highway or on the drag strip and to be honest, we’re fine with it.
The C7 Vette is one of the cars of the moment and we’ve seen it take on a Viper TA and just yesterday the Challenger SRT Hellcat with a questionable result. Weight matters, there’s no way around it. And the Z06 had almost an 1,000 lbs advantage on the Hellcat. It’s interesting to see how it handles a car which is even lighter than the Z06.
Cue the Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale (the road version of the Super Trofeo race car), which tips the scales at 3.346 lbs (1.518kg), over 200 lbs lighter than the Z06 Corvette and its 3.582 lbs (1.625 kg) of weight. This rolling start also features a naturally aspirated 570 HP V10 Lamborghini engine versus General Motors’s LT4 650 HP supercharged V8.
The Z06 doesn’t have just the power advantage on its side, but also a huge torque advantage (close to 250 extra lb-ft). Regardless, as you’ll see from the footage, the results will be split, but on paper from a rolling start the Corvette should take it every time.
