Audi is looking to give their customers the chance to configure their cars through a VR experience at the dealership.
All you need to do is put on the headset and you’ll have access to the entire model portfolio, including all possible equipment combinations. The experience will surely be more exciting than just looking at a computer monitor while the sales person is ticking boxes and telling you which packages you’re obligated to buy in order to get certain gadgets on board.
However by doing this, Audi has become the first automotive manufacturer to develop a dedicated retain software solution for virtual reality headsets. As Audi sales chief Luca de Meo put it “Hand in hand with our dealers, are are bringing digital innovations into the dealership in order to improve convenience and to provide even better advice. With the Audi VR experience, we are once again demonstration the pioneering role of the four rings in this area.“
The headset works by using a camera which tracks the movements of the user’s head while the system adapts the projected images accordingly. You can configure colors, leathers, inlays as well as infotainment systems.
Not a bad way to build your R8 supercar or your luxury Audi A8 saloon.
