The BMW Group had a great year. In fact, 2014 was their fourth consecutive year in which they registered record sales, and they look forward to seeing further sales growth in 2015.
Last year, the BMW delivered more than 2 million cars consisting of BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce models with an exact number of 2.117.965 cars – which is more than 2013’s 1.963.798 cars. We’re looking at a 7.9% increase in sales.
Sales and Marketing exec Ian Robertson said that “With the launch of 15 new models planned for the year, we are confident that 2015 will see the momentum we’ve generated in the last years continue and that we will increase sales in all major sales regions, despite ongoing volatility in some markets“. Robertson continued by talking about European sales and the fact that they should continue to recover in southern European markets which are “starting from a fairly low level“.
While in the US as well as in Asia, BMW has had a very strong year in 2014, and they believe they will see further sales increases. In Asia, the sales of BMW and MINI vehicles grew by 13.8% in 2014, totaling 656.395 cars ending up in the hands of their new owners.
MINI in particular had an extraordinary fourth quarter in 2014 with the introduction of the new MINI 5 door and the new MINI 3 door before that, and right now the average age for their model range is just 2.5 years which is the youngest they’ve had for a long time.
As for Rolls-Royce, they delivered over 4.000 cars in 2014 which represented a sales record in itself at 11.9% more than in 2013. The numbers were drive by the popularity of the Ghost Series II and the Wraith, even though the Phantom remains their most iconic model currently.
We’re looking at a bright future indeed for the BMW Group and taking into account their revolutionary i vehicles, which were delivered to a total of 17.800 customers in 2014, the auto industry will surely adjust to welcome this new electric revolution. The i3 was launched during late-spring and over 16.000 units were sold, while the i8 saw only 1.741 buyers since it went on sale last summer.
Even BMW Motorrad has achieved a fourth successive sales record with 123.495 motorcycles and maxi-scooters sold in 2014 – marking a 7.2% increase.
