There’s nothing like starting the new year by revisiting your best moments from the previous one. Or at least, that’s what a lot of car manufacturers like to think. In the case of the Hellcats, we happily agree.
The Dodge SRT Hellcat, be it the Challenger or the Charger, has pretty much been the web’s no.1 superstar in the car realm for the past couple of months. And to be honest, more so the Challenger than the Charger. But all looks aside, both models feature 6.2 liter V8 engines that develop 707 PS (527 kW) and no fewer than 880Nm (650 lb-ft) of torque, which is enough to shame a BMW M5 or a Porsche Cayenne Turbo, and about as much as you get from a Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG.
When you have that much pulling power, being a dick to your rear tires is pretty much inevitable and sometimes just plain silly fun. Just plant your left foot on the brake pedal, turn off the traction control, put it in drive (in this case use the eight-speed automatic gearbox), step on the accelerator until you start dancing around (do wait for the cloud of smoke) and release the brake.
If you’re lucky enough to do this in one of these Hellcats, you should know that a clean start from a stand still will get you to the quarter mile mark in around 11 seconds flat and that you might be able to hit 204 mph (328 km/h) if you don’t know what’s good for you.
