After another disappointing year, in which it finished fourth behind Williams, Ferrari announced the appointment of ex-Philip Morris liaison Maurizio Arrivabene as its F1 team principal.
Arrivabene, who replaced Marco Mattiacci, has already began shaking up things at Marannello, getting rid of the heads leading both the engine and aerodynamics departments. Even so, according to Reuters, he believes the following season won’t be an easy one.
“I am not a magician, there are no miracles to be made”, Reuters reports him saying at a media event. “I don’t believe in individual success. Drivers become the stars of the show but they must be treated like employees. They must work as a team and help rebuild the team.”
Ferrari Chairman Sergio Marchionne acknowledged that the decisions made by the Scuderia’s previous managing team hampered its chances of a successful next season.
“We started late with the 2015 car, certain choices and strategies that were made by others and that, in retrospect, I don’t necessarily share”, he said. “So 2015 will be a difficult year that will put the team to a real test.”
