Ford of Europe really wants you to want one of its Focus ST estate diesels, a car that’s capable of keep the petrol-powered hatch behind it on a wet track – in the hands of Steve Sutcliffe, that is.
It’s a neat little marketing trick to have a journalist in good standing as the promo’s protagonist. Sutcliffe is also usually associated with his video reviews of sports cars, and him praising the diesel estate does carry some weight.
We’ll just wait until he drives the car for the magazine when he’ll actually be able to tell us what he thinks of the car.
The promo video is posted below and it’s actually quite well done and fun to watch. Oh, and do have a listen for the diesel’s engine/exhaust note – sounds pretty growl-y for something that relies on compression for ignition; it could be another one of those fake engine sound synthesizers at work here…
