Infiniti has released the first uncensored photo of the Q60 Concept ahead of its debut at the Detroit Auto Show next week. As the name suggests, the study previews the next generation Infiniti Q60 sports coupe, which will feature design cues from the brand’s latest models.
The Q60 Concept’s design details remind of the Q80 Inspiration concept, unveiled at the 2014 Paris Auto Show – especially the low roofline and quilted leather seats. The Q60 Concept also borrows details from other Infiniti models, more specifically the aerodynamic gills behind the front wheel arches, inherited from the Q50 Eau Rouge sports sedan concept.
Infiniti says the Q60 Concept features sharp contours and a hand-crafted interior, with the result being “a no-compromise fusion of looks and speed.” The coupe’s low and wide body promises interesting driving dynamics, as does the car’s muscular appearance. The Q60 Concept rides on custom 21-inch wheels with black spokes in a combination of mattes and chromes inspired by jet turbine blades.
Although this is the only photo released so far, we have to trust Infiniti when it says the car has a high-quality interior featuring “impeccable hand-stitched leather” and a “precise treatment of the carbon fiber accents.” The automaker also says the Q60 Concept is a genuine 2+2 coupe, with rear passengers getting more legroom through the use of sport seats.
No technical details were offered, but we should get those along with more photos as we approach the study’s reveal on January 13 in Detroit. We can only hope the Q60 Concept will not be toned down too much in production form, and we have reason to believe it won’t. Infiniti’s executive design director Alfonso Albaisa said in November that the Q60 COncept is “very, very close to the next Q60.”
