These are two of the fastest accelerating cars in the world. The Huracan is sort of the newcomer, while the MP4-12 McLaren has proven to be considerably faster than the previous generation baby Lambo, the Gallardo.
It’s not every day that…oh, actually it kind of is every day that we get to see two supercars race each other on YouTube, so why should today be any different? It looks as though the Huracan vs. 12C match-up is a very interesting one.
On one hand we have the all-wheel drive Lamborghini and its massive 610 PS V10 engine. It’ll put down its power and reach 62 mph in just 3.2 seconds and run as high as 325 km/h. The Huracan also doesn’t weigh a lot, at just 1551kg – it’s over 100kg lighter than a Porsche 911 Turbo S.
The McLaren MP4-12C, which by the way sounds a lot better when you call it by its ‘old school’ full name, because it mirrors their Formula 1 car, is still extraordinarily quick and not even the newer 650S can do a lot to change that. The 12C is still a 330 km/h car. It has a modest-sounding 3.8 liter twin turbo V6 V8, with an output of 600 PS – which is more than enough to get you from 0 to 62 mph in 3.3 seconds. The 12C is also about 40kgs lighter than the Huracan.
So at least on paper, they should be pretty evenly matched. However both cars in this video have had some aftermarket ECU alternations done to them and the only run worth watching is the first one even though the McLaren spins its rear wheels looking for extra grip.
If you pause it just in time after they both cross the line, you’ll find that there’s not much separating these two cars in terms of performance.
