To say that 2014 was a good year for Maserati would certainly be an understatement: the Italian brand has sold 36,500 cars worldwide, a whopping 136 percent increase compared to 2013.

The result is even more impressive compared with 2012 sales – Maserati sold almost six times more cars last year. “Guilty” for this is the Maserati Ghibli – 23,500 units of the executive saloon were delivered to customers last year.

The E-segment model was followed by the brand’s luxury flagship saloon, the Quattroporte, with 9,700 units. The total was completed by 3,500 units of the GranTurismo and GranCabrio models.

Maserati reported growth in all the main markets in which it operates, including in its biggest market, the United States. 14,690 units were delivered to the US last year, 110 percent more than in 2013. Sales were boosted by the Ghibli and Quattroporte versions equipped with the 410hp twin turbo engine and Q4 all-wheel drive.

Maserati’s second largest market last year was China, with 9,400 units and growth of 148 percent compared to 2013. The best-selling models there were the Quattroporte and Ghibli versions with 330hp twin turbo engine and rear-wheel drive.

Europe accounted for 6,360 units, recording a large rise of 153 percent compared to 2013. The best-selling Quattroporte and Ghibli models were the rear wheel drive versions with the 275hp V6 turbo diesel engine.

In the Asia-Pacific area (excluding China), Maserati sold 4,000 units, representing a 206 percent increase over 2013. The Middle East followed with 2,050 units sold, accounting for a growth of 144 percent compared to 2013.
