Not all mods are supposed to earn you the rank of top dog at the drag strip. In fact, most tuning companies will make your car just a little faster – which is enough if you happen to own a Porsche 911.
Such is the case with Gau-Algesheim-based Maxi-Tuner, a company that has recently focused on getting a bit more speed from the Porsche 911 Turbo as well as the Turbo S models.
The so called “MaxPower” upgrade will give Porsche’s 3.8 liter twin turbo flat six engine an extra 60 HP to go along with 100 Nm of bonus torque. This will take your 911 Turbo up to 580 HP and 760 Nm, while also resulting in a good 620 HP and 800 Nm for the Turbo S.
The Maxi-Tuner Turbo S test car you see pictured here has been fitted with their own in-house developed stainless steel sports exhaust system, giving it 635 HP and 864 Nm of peak torque. If you want to talk performance, it will do 0-62 mph in just 2.8 seconds (which is 0.3 seconds faster than a stock Turbo S).
While this isn’t one of those all-out 800+ HP tuning kits you see so often, it’s still enough to get you off the line as fast as just about any other road going vehicle in the world. The Porsche 911 Turbo S was already one of the fastest accelerating cars you could find.
We’re guessing that if you own one, you probably wouldn’t mind even the slightest addition in power, but it wouldn’t be because you would need it.
