The new Skoda Fabia has achieved the highest score in its class during the 2014 Euro NCAP crash tests, being one of only 14 small cars that managed to score the full 5 stars.

It turns out that Skoda’s newest super-mini is the safest car you can buy in this particular segment, featuring outstanding passenger protection for both adults and children as well as innovative safety systems with 6 airbags fitted as standard.

The Fabia shined in all 4 evaluation categories: Passenger protection for adults, child safety, safety assistance systems and pedestrian protection. It also received maximum points for the protection of infants up to 18 months, as well as a strong rating for keeping children up to 3 years safe.

In the UK, the Skoda Fabia has the Front Assistant system with integrated City Emergency Brake function as standard features starting with its SE spec. The system uses radar to measure distances in front of the car and steps in if you’re getting too close to the vehicle in front of you.

It also features multi-collision brake, which is there in order to reduce the risk of a secondary crash if you’ve already been involved in an accident, plus other optional safety systems like Driver Activity Assistant (which offers fatigue recognition), a speed limiter, Hill Hold Control and an electronic tire pressure monitoring system.

Inside, during a crash you can rely on its high-strength body and optimized crumple zones as well as front, side and head airbags (6 in total) that work in combination with 5 three-point seat belts.

Overall, it’s a very good result for Skoda, especially with this being one of the most competitive segments in Europe.
