Local Motors’ Rally Fighter is probably the closest thing to a Dakar Rally racer one can drive on public roads. Built at the company’s factory in Chandler, Arizona, the Rally Fighter can be customized to the owner’s exact specification. Local Motors even lets customers build it themselves at the plant.
Russell White is one of the customers that ordered and assembled a Rally Fighter himself at Local Motors’ factory. Powered by a 430hp GM LS3 E-Rod 376-cubic-inch (6.2-liter) V8 engine from a Corvette, the Rally Fighter can reach speeds of up to 135 mph (217 km/h).
Add to that the enormous 20 inches (508mm) of suspension travel, and it’s pretty obvious that the Rally Fighter can tackle virtually any type of terrain. Find out how it is to own an off-road vehicle like from Barcroft Cars’ latest video.
