Auto shows are usually chosen by car manufacturers to premiere their latest models, a prime example being the recent 2015 North American International Auto Show.
Peugeot, though, has chosen the Motor Bike Expo that’s taking place these days at Verona, Italy, to launch a special edition of its range-topping RCZ R sports coupe.
There’s a good reason for that: this special edition was developed with Italian superbike manufacturer Bimota and thus is named, ahem, Peugeot RCZ R Bimota…
Painted in Bimota’s distinctive red, white and green colors (apart from the double-bubble roof and its pillars that are black) and with the company’s logo featuring ahead of the rear wheel arches, it is powered by a tuned version of the turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder found in the stock RCZ R.
Thanks to a remapped ECU, a new exhaust system and a new bypass valve for the turbocharger, the Peugeot RCZ R Bimota puts out 300hp (304PS), a sizable increase to the plain version’s 266hp (270PS). The front brakes have also been upgraded with 380mm discs and four-piston calipers and the suspension has been lowered by 10mm.
The cabin ditches the rear seats in favor of a box that can take two motorcycle helmets. The front seats are covered in leather and Alcantara, the steering and dashboard are also trimmed in Alcantara and there’s a Tom Tom infotainment system ahead of the passenger and two GoPro cameras (one at the rear of the headlining and one integrated in the front bumper) as standard.
