It’s been a very good year for Subaru’s North American side of the business, as it’s reportedly just shifted its 500,000th car this year.
The vehicle (we don’t know which model it was) got delivered on December 29 and marked a clear upward path for the brand’s sales.
We should remind you that its annual sales figure for 2008 was 186,699 units, so it’s more than doubled in the meantime. The improvement is owed to the strong sales performance of its Outback and Forester crossovers, which achieved a combined figure of 300,000 this year, followed by the new XV Crosstrek which alone racked up some 60,000 sales.
All models contributed to the overall result, though, and it should be said there are no undesirable models in the manufacturer’s range at the moment – the Impreza and Legacy sedans and performance models round out the figure.
Thomas J. Doll, Subaru NA CEO marked the occasion by saying:
“We are delighted to have reached this historic milestone and our results show we are delivering vehicles that people want to buy. That we have grown so steeply and also so steadily over the last seven years is a testament to our products and to the commitment of our retailers who have had to manage this increase in capacity. There is a positive air around our business and we have no plans to stop our growth; we expect 2015 to also be another record year for Subaru.”
