We have nothing new in the way of information on the 2016 Tacoma, but Toyota caved in and released a set of HD pics and a video after last night’s leak.
Toyota says that their new mid-size truck is “tougher, smarter and more capable” than the model it replaces. They also mentioned the following:
“Let’s take it to the next level. The all-new 2016 Tacoma will be ready to once again set the benchmark for midsize pickup performance. Backed by a heritage of unwavering capability, an unbreakable attitude and new, rugged tech, Tacoma’s off-road prowess is more formidable than ever. This is how we make America’s best-selling midsize pickup in its segment for the last ten years better in every way. The adventure is just beginning. Let’s go places.”
The Tacoma won’t have an easy job as GM has already unleashed the new Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon mid-size pickup trucks onto the market. It is believed that the new Tacoma will get a fresh V6 engine paired to either a six-speed manual or automatic. We’ll know for sure at next week’s Detroit auto show.
