There are dozens of campaigns in play in Europe at this time aimed at encouraging citizens to leave their car at home and use the bus, a bike or their legs to get where they need to go. However, this progressive trend is more at home in certain countries, and the end-of-year Eurobarometer for 2014 reveals which these are.
Don’t worry, there’s no complicated data to compile and go through, just a simple map that’s posted after the virtual jump – the darker the blue, the more people like to go around by car.
It seems that Cyprus is the place where the most people preferred driving cars. A whopping 85 percent of them said that “on a typical day they used a car most often.” Next up is Ireland with 73 percent, then Slovenia with 71.
At the other end of the scales, we have Hungary, where only 33 percent of people prefer automobiles, with Latvia and Romania averaging slightly more, at 38 and 40 percent respectively.
