When VW unveiled the Cross Coupe GTE midsize SUV concept at the Detroit Auto Show last week, it said the study previews the future design language for the brand’s North American SUVs.

Since the Tiguan is part of the automaker’s US lineup and various reports said the next-generation model will be bigger and more stylish, using the Cross Coupe GTE Concept as inspiration to the new Tiguan should be a no brainer for VW.

This seems to be the reasoning behind Photoshop ace Remco Meulendijk’s renderings of the next-generation Tiguan based on photos of the Cross Coupe GTE Concept. You’ll notice the renderings feature slightly different details, the most obvious of which are the more conventional headlights and taillights.

So, what do you think? If you care for a personal opinion, I wouldn’t mind if the upcoming Tiguan looked like this, considering that the current generation model is one of the most boring SUVs – on both sides of the Atlantic.
