It seems things have quieted down a little for the Challenger Hellcat ever since it took the inter-web by storm, becoming one of the most popular Youtube attractions for drag racing and muscle car fans world wide.
We’ve seen it take on basically everything you can throw at it but the kitchen sink. A 665 HP supercharged Hennessey GMC Denali? Check. A Viper TA? Check. A Corvette Z06? Check. It even went up against a NOS-Powered Chevy Camaro and an F16 Fighter Jet – which was completely absurd, especially in monsoon weather.
Curious about how it did against the just about equally powerful Lamborghini Aventador? So were we! In fact we were expecting the Lambo to use its weight advantage and faster gear changes to obliterate the Hellcat, but taking into account that this was a rolling start, the Lambo’s off the mark all-wheel drive detonation couldn’t really take place.
From a stand still, the Aventador would have had almost a 1 second advantage from 0 to 62 mph. Which would lead to a very predictable result.
So what do you think? Rolling start, 707 HP and 881 Nm (650 lb-ft) of torque for the Hellcat and 700 HP with 690 Nm (508 lb-ft) of torque for the Raging Bull. Would you be surprised if these two cars canceled each other out completely? Because that’s exactly what happened!
The moment they both accelerate, neither really gains or loses an advantage. We can however see the Lambo’s faster gear changes as they happen, giving it a slight jolt right before the Hellcat’s torque answers back.
