The 2016 Hyundai Veloster tries to stay up-to-date in the fashionable sporty hatch segment with some styling tweaks and a new top turbo model focused on being performance-oriented.
Shown Friday at the Chicago Auto Show, the new 2016 Veloster Rally Edition builds on the standard Veloster Turbo R-Spec with lightweight RAYS 18-inch wheels, tighter suspension and stabilizer bar tuning, a new shifter for its 6-speed manual and matte blue paint that’s probably performance-oriented somehow.
All 2016 Velosters get an updated grille in keeping with Hyundai’s most recent models, new wheel designs and a new touchscreen radio display Siri Eyes Free integration and Hyundai BlueLink telematics system. The Turbo model now offers a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, sport seats and a redesigned gauge cluster.
Engines solider on, though, with the 1.6-liter 138-horsepower four powering base models and the Turbo models getting a 201-horse 1.6 turbo four.
Hyundai says the 2016 Veloster will be in showrooms in May.
