This freshly released footage of the Alpina XD3 BITURBO (facelift) shows the BMW X3 basically at its best. And since there’s currently no M version of the X3, we surely wouldn’t mind “settling” for an Alpina product.

At the core of the XD3 lies a basic xDrive35d BMW X3 – which is already a very capable and dynamic compact SUV thanks to its 313 PS 3.0 liter biturbo engine. It will get from 0 to 62 mph (100km/h) in 5.3 seconds (0.3 seconds faster than the xDrive35i version).

What Alpina have done though is they raised the power up to 350 PS, added 700Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque and with that reducing the 0-100km/h (62 mph) sprint time by 0.4 seconds. Right now, at 4.9 seconds, the Alpina XD3 is the fastest accelerating turbodiesel SUV in the world. An Audi SQ5 will do the deed in 5.1 seconds.

Looks-wise, we pretty much like everything with an Alpina badge, so you really can’t go wrong if you choose to pay more of a premium on the XD3 rather than just get a regular X3 xDrive35d.

How much more of a premium you say? Just about €69,100 – which makes it €12,400 more expensive than an xDrive35d and at the same time €10,658 more than you’d spend on a Porsche Macan S Diesel – which make no mistake, is the more agile car, even though it’s not as quick off the line.
