After delivering more than 2 million cars in 2014, the BMW Group is still on a roll with 142,154 cars sold in the first month of the new year.

Ian Robertson, Sales and Marketing exec said that ” This is a positive start, building on the success of last year. Looking ahead, we are aiming for further growth in 2015, despite challenging economic conditions in some markets. There are a number of very exciting model launches coming up this year and our target is to increase global sales for a fifth successive year.”

Starting the year off on the right foot has been very encouraging for BMW brand vehicles. In the same month last year, they sold 6.3% less units. However with new models such as the recently launched 2 Series Active Tourer and the 4 Series still going strong (with a total of 8,537 deliveries worldwide), we can’t really see any reason why sales would ever stagnate.

The BMW X5 also saw significant growth (40.9%) compared to last January, which is a massive increase in sales, while the X6 became about 2.6% more “popular”.

As for BMW ‘i’ sales, a total of 1,845 cars were sold this January around the world, with 1,416 of them being the i3 and 429 i8 units. MINI sales also went up by 12% during the same period.

Regional growth has become the norm for BMW, as sales in Asia went up by 6.6% last month, compared to January last year, while the Americas received 5.7% more BMW group cars. In Europe, a total of 55,676 BMW and MINI vehicles were delivered to customers in January, marking up an 8.5% increase compared to the same month last year.
