McLaren suffered a rather lousy F1 season in 2014. Could the cause of the lackluster performance be the team’s redistribution of funds in order to support the development of a never-before-seen top secret project?

The new video starts off with the title “Back To The Racetrack” in an iconic “Back to the Future font.” In the short, 35-year old Jenson Button is acting a little too young for his age as he wears a suspiciously familiar color-change baseball cap while riding on a skateboard outside McLaren’s Woking HQ. Suddenly, a trailer that’s apparently shipping a lot of dry ice is opening its container door to unveil a cool silver metallic McLaren 650S with a California plate that reads “OUTATIME.”

Wait, did Fernando Alonso just build a time machine out of a DeLorean McLaren? The new McLaren teammates hop into the car and decide where to time travel to next.

JB suggests a trip back to the Brazilian GP at Interlagos in 1988, where legendary racing driver Ayrton Senna won one of his greatest victories for McLaren. However, Alonso has an even better idea: the Melbourne GP later this year where the all-new Honda powered McLaren F1 car will make its racing debut.

While Jenson and Fernando has done a pretty good job with the entertaining short film, we definitely recommend the two racing talents should stick to their day jobs.
