Jaguar wants to build an entire range of products with the F-Type, a car that’s already pretty potent and varied as is. Yyou can get a base rear-wheel drive-only V6, or go for the full AWD V8 that hits sixty in under 4 seconds.
Apparently, the group has a lot more in store for the F-Type, according to Andy Goss, JLR’s Operations director. He told Autoguide that they are going to take the F-Type “a lot further,” and that they’ll “dial in more performance without a shadow of a doubt.”
On top of that, “There are other things we’ll undoubtedly do,” Goss said, explaining the “ F-Type will be range of products not a product.”
He did want to make it clear that they’re not aping Porsche, going on the defensive saying “we were in this market before they were in this market.” Jaguar wants to create cars that “sell volume” and broadening the appeal of the F-Type with more versions is one way to do that.
This year Jaguar plans to launch 12 or updated models for a total of 50 over the next five years.
