What you see here is the interior of the upcoming 2016 Porsche 911 facelift, and more specifically, of the Turbo model.
One of the standout changes is the sexier-looking three-spoke steering wheel borrowed from the 918 Spyder, complete with a toggle switch on the right hand side.
In the 918 Spyder, this switch allows you to select among five distinct operating modes (E-Power, Hybrid, Sport Hybrid, Race Hybrid and Hot Lap). Given the absence of the ‘Sport’ and ‘Sport Plus’ buttons on the lower center console behind the gear lever, we’re guessing Porsche moved those functions to the toggle switch, perhaps adding a few new modes in the process.
Our spies tell us that they’ve seen the same steering wheel layout on other 991 facelift prototypes, so it may be offered across the range in conjunction with the Sport Chrono package.
The second thing that draws our attention on this tester is the new and larger touchscreen for the PCM infotainment system and the revised buttons right under it on the console.
On the outside, the 911 Turbo sports a revised front bumper with slim LED daytime running lights, a redesigned rear bumper, slicker door handles, a new engine cover with different vents, and even though we can’t see them here, fresh graphics for the headlamps and new ‘3D’ style rear clusters.
Changes are expected on the chassis too, while Porsche may tweak the Turbo’s 3.8-liter flat-six that currently delivers 520PS (513hp) in standard and 560PS (552hp) in Turbo S forms.
