Unless Ferrari has something different in store, the car teased in this video ahead of its official reveal on Tuesday, February 3, should be the facelifted 458 Italia. There are subtle hints to support this from the shape of the front lights to the proportions of the rear.
However, what you should really pay attention to are the sounds emitted by the car and the fact that the tachometer has a redline at 8,000 rpm – that’s 1,000 rpm less than the current 458 Italia with the 572PS (564hp) 4.5-liter atmospheric V8 that redlines at 9,000 rpm.
What we’ve heard is that the 458 M, or according to other sources, the M458-T, will get a twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V8 producing around 670-horses. This updated engine is based on the California-T’s 552hp (560PS) twin-turbo V8, itself derived from the 3.8-liter V8 used in the Maserati Quattroporte and Ghibli sedans.
You never know what kind of digital chicanery goes on with these manufacturer videos, but if this is how a turbocharged V8 sounds, you can color us excited.
