We just love all these beautiful HRE Wheels ‘supermodels’. We’ve already seen photoshoots with an Aventador, a 911 GT3 and a 918 Spyder this year alone. But this, this is a Gemballa Mirage GT and it’s a different type of animal.
They say the Porsche Carrera GT (Gemballa Mirage GT on fewer steroids) is a dangerous car. Having a dangerous car is a lot like having a dangerous dog. It will obey you and play with you and be your friend until that one time when you’re not looking and it bites your hand.
In a way this is what people have been saying about the Carrera GT. Mid-engine, Formula 1 inspired V10, rear wheel drive, little over 600 HP and no Electronic Stability Program. Nothing to keep the car from getting out of shape if you’re not careful with your throttle and steering input. And it turns in quickly too.
Performance-wise, the Gemballa Mirage GT is even more of a beast. It packs 670 HP and it’ll get you from 0 to 62 mph (100km/h) in just 3.7 seconds. If you’re feeling lucky, you can take it all the way up to 208mph (335 km/h).
Ironically, Gemballa made the Mirage GT friendlier to drive in traffic than the Carrera GT on which it’s based. Since the original carbon-fiber race clutch on the Carrera GT was tricky to use, Gemballa fitted special pads developed to improve clutch pedal pressure metering, ensuring a smooth and judder-free stop & go traffic experience.
It’s a beautiful thing isn’t it? And it’s sitting on a set of HRE P104 Satin Black wheels that look outstanding in front of those yellow calipers.
