With great power comes great speed, and Hennessey’s new 2015 Mustang HPE700 has plenty of both.
Last Wednesday, February 4, Hennessey Performance founder and CEO John Hennessey took his personal supercharged Mustang HPE700 for a drive at the Continental Tires Proving Grounds in Uvalde, Texas, where he achieved a top speed of 195.2 mph or 314.1 km/h.
Hennessey’s HPE700 package for the sixth generation Mustang GT upgrades the factory 435hp (441PS) and 400 lb-ft (542Nm) 5.0-liter V8 with a wave of products including a 2.9 liter supercharger, air induction system, new fuel injectors and fuel pump, plus a modified ECU.
As a result, the supercharged V8 produces 717hp at 7,000 rpm and 632 lb-ft (856Nm) of torque at 4,400 rpm for 0-60mph (96km/h) sprint in 3.6 seconds and a quarter mile run in 11.2 seconds at 131mph (210.8 km/h), which by the way, matches the new Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat’s time.
